Volunteer

OUR ORGANIZATION IS 100% VOLUNTEER AND FACULTY-RUN

There are many ways to get involved, from a one-time commitment at an event to a year-long position as a room parent or on our board.

We recommended a volunteer commitment of three hours per year for every SCS family. Not sure where to start? Send us an email and we can find the right opportunity for you!

EVENT HELP

  • Art Show - It takes a lot of prep work to showcase the artwork of every elementary student.  Please consider volunteering for 1 shift, 2 shifts or every shift!  We appreciate your time.  And, your child will be thrilled to see their artwork displayed in the garden.  Click here to sign up!

  • Spring Carnival - We need help with supervising students on the different inflatables! Sign up for a one-hour shift and receive a free admission wristband (limit two per family)

BOARD & EVENT CHAIRS

We’re currently looking to fill a couple of open positions! Please email ptsasycamore@gmail.com if you’re interested in learning more.

  • Parliamentarian - Are you a rule follower? If so, we need you!  The Parliamentarian ensures that our PTSA by-laws are being followed.  Full training will be provided.  Time commitment is minimal.  You'll have to attend our monthly Executive Board meetings and bi-monthly General Association meetings held on Wednesdays at 8:30am.

  • Yoga in the Garden Chair - The chair for this popular monthly event would help organize volunteers, promote the event, coordinate with the Yoga instructor & manage crowd control on the days of the event.  The students love this event, and we would love someone to help keep it running smoothly.

  • Valentine Concert Co-Chair - Do you love music?  Help inspire our elementary students by transforming our Garden to a concert hall.  The Valentine Concert Chair will need to coordinate with Mr. Palomino to recruit middle school performers, create and print music programs and ensure the program flows smoothly on the day of the event.

  • Read-A-Thon Chair
Our annual Read-A-Thon strives to motivate children to read more.  Shadow this year's current chair to learn how this program runs, from planning Family Reading Night to tallying student's reading minutes.

  • Book Fest Chair - Our annual Book Fest allows students to "shop" for books in time for summer vacation!  The Book Fest Chair coordinates the donation drive and shopping event.  Work side by side with our current Book Fest Chair this year.

  • Grandparent/Loved One Bingo Chair - Our annual Grandparent/Loved One Bingo is held on Grandparent's Day every September.  Grandparents/Loved Ones are welcome to join SCS students for an afternoon of fun playing bingo.  Shadow the current chair next school year to learn how the event is run.
